How to preload GTA 6

GTA 6 pre-load opens at local midnight on 12 November 2026, one week before launch, for digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and for physical copies once their code is redeemed. Physical boxes hold a download code, not a disc. Rockstar has not announced the file size, so free up space early.

How do you pre-load GTA 6 on PS5?

  1. Turn on automatic downloads: Settings › Saved Data and Game/App Settings › Automatic Updates, then switch on Auto-Download and Auto-Install in Rest Mode.

  2. Let the console download in rest mode: Settings › System › Power Saving › Features Available in Rest Mode, then switch on Stay Connected to the Internet.

  3. From 12 November 2026: open your Game Library, choose Grand Theft Auto VI and select Download if it hasn't started on its own. Physical copies: redeem the code from the box first in the PlayStation Store.

How do you pre-load GTA 6 on Xbox Series X|S?

  1. Turn on automatic updates: Settings › System › Updates, then tick Keep my games & apps up to date. Leave the console in sleep (standby) mode rather than off.

  2. From 12 November 2026: open My games & apps › Full library › All owned games, choose Grand Theft Auto VI and select Install. Physical copies: redeem the code from the box first (Store › Redeem). Xbox codes are not region-locked.

How big is the GTA 6 download?

Not announced yet (checked 22 October 2026). Rockstar Support and the Rockstar Store don't list it. When the stores publish the size, it will appear here with the date we checked it.

Yes. Rockstar confirms pre-load begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026 for digital pre-orders and for redeemed physical codes.

Can I pre-load GTA 6 with a physical copy?

Yes. The box contains a download code and no disc. Copies ship from 12 November 2026; redeem the code and the pre-load starts.

How big is the GTA 6 download?

Rockstar has not announced the file size. Figures like 300 GB or 750 GB are rumours. We will update this page when Rockstar or the stores list the size.

Can I play GTA 6 after pre-loading?

No. Pre-loading only downloads the game. It stays locked until launch on 19 November 2026.
